metro-organic design

The City of Bellevue Washington has coined a term that describes my personal decorating style: Metro-Organic! I have always loved architectural shapes and distinct texture paired with stark contrast. This love mixed with the beauty of nature is irresistible to me. When the opportunity came to do a living room for my parents, I thought it would be fitting to give it some personal touches. I picked a lush and rich brown for the walls and made everything else cream or white. Birch branches are the organic theme of this room. They are expressed in several different ways from actual floor to ceiling trunks to wispy twigs in a vase. The room is sharp, bold, and organic. Thank you Bellevue for giving words to my design expressions. The true beauty of this design is that I did it on a shoe string budget. Literally the furniture, paint, and all accessories were done with less than $5000 dollars. A true design achievement. Beautiful spaces don't have to be expensive. Those are words that I live by.
