I have always loved this concept that I refer to as color control. I have seen many ways use color. Controlling the amount of colors and repeating them thoroughly creates a clean and pleasing look. This guest bedroom is a perfect example of that. The color pallet is yellow, green, and white. Almost everything in this room is yellow, green, or white. This look can be achieved very inexpensively because it is not the furnishings themselves we are admiring, but the use of color. On this particular project, the furniture was well worn and tired so it was all painted white. The white bedspreads and the yellow throws were TJ Maxx finds and the custom bedding was close-out fabric sewn into two bed skirts and four pillows. The wall hangings were also inspired by a close-out fabric and framed in white painted garage-sale frames. The dolls were from the client’s private collection, however, anything could have been displayed there and made to look sharp. The room looks great but cost very little.
