Color Control Part 2

While I am on the topic of color control, I wanted to showcase this entry. It goes right along the lines of the previous post. The color is very controlled, now using just green, brown, and white. I really had fun seeing how cheap I could pull this off. I wouldn’t recommend going so cheap for everyone, but I will divulge to you my secrets. The buffet, trunk, and chair together cost $25 at Goodwill. All were damaged but with several coats of white paint and a little distressing, they look amazing. The chair of course had to be reupholstered but the fabric cost less than five dollars. The lamp also came from Goodwill and was spray painted to match. All of the silver accessories on the trunks came from TJ Maxx and Ross. The candlesticks on the buffet were inherited. The three leaves behind the banister are my original works of art. The frames are garage-sale finds painted brown. The leaves came from the park and the matts were cut by hand. Again, it is not the individual furnishings that we admire, but the use of color and repetition. Basically this showcases true design!

  1. I would have thought that picture was straight from a magazine. Great job! I so love the colors. I have the hardest time with paint colors. Greens are the hardest. too gray, too yellow, too muddy, too bright. i could use your expertise. Leon is good at it. I guess it takes an artist.
